Republic vs Democracy

You hear politicans go back and forth using the words "Republic" and "Democracy" enterchangeably. But aren't they two very different things? And what are the differences? The United States of America was founded as a REPUBLIC. But now it's always spoken of by politicans as "Our DEMOCRACY." Why? The difference between a REPUBLIC and a DEMOCRACY is simple. In a Republic, LAWS GOVERN based on the constitution. In a Democracy, PEOPLE GOVERN based upon their opinion. (In other words, they make the laws instead of God). In the Bible, Israel is a REPUBLIC. Their entire system of government is to obey the law given by God. In the United States, we were founded a REPUBLIC. Why? Because we honored God in our founding documents, and wanted to be ruled by sound and just LAWS set up by God. But now our politicians want us to no longer be a republic, but rather a Democracy. The reason is that in a Democracy, the people can vote to change laws based on their own opinons, which oftentimes are against God and the Bible. As America becomes more ungodly, so will its laws. And "the Democracy," will eventually become a DEMONocracy, as the Bible says the anti-christ will soon come to power. If you've never read Plato's REPUBLIC, you should. He shows that every time a Republic becomes a Democracy, it will always fail and will always end up in a Dictatorship. If you are a Bible-believer, you know exactly what that dictatorship will be: The 7 year reign of the Anti-Christ. But thank God, we have a promise that Jesus will return and defeat the Anti-Christ at the battle of Armageddon, and He will then rule and reign for 1000 years in the millenium! I'm glad I'm on the winning side! How about you? It's not whether you are a Republican or a Democrat. It's whether or not you are SAVED or LOST, whether you desire to follow the LAW (the Bible) or your own OPINION (your own self-righteousness).
